A corner of the living room in the old farmhouse I grew up in was designated to my mother’s painting. She was incredibly talented, and I never grew tired of watching her draw or paint. I was surrounded by equally stunning beauty the minute I stepped outside, as our farm in rural South Dakota seemed to have something amazing to witness almost every day. I would spend hours exploring the wind-brushed sand hills and stands of cottonwood and oak which formed the seemingly endless prairie landscape.
As a retired Special Education and Environmental Science teacher, I strive to use my art to educate and raise awareness of the beauty of the natural world while conveying feelings of peace, love, hope, joy and kindness.
I have worked in numerous media including metal casting, watercolor, pastels, photography, polymer clay and exhibited in various festivals and galleries in South Dakota and Illinois. I have also participated and exhibited in Arizona festivals and galleries including the Tempe Festival of the Arts, the Great Fair in Fountain Hills, Art on Boston, Tempe Center for the Arts, and the Gilbert Art Walk.
TerraWind Ranch is a 4-acre rescue ranch where my husband and I love and care for a small assortment of rescued cats, dogs, and livestock, including 3 mustangs and a very special mini horse named Stanley.
